A hotel sustained a severe fire and the hotel’s insurance carrier refused to timely pay the hotel owner what he believed was the full value of the fire loss claim. Mital represented the hotel from the inception of the hotel fire claim and was able to get the insurance company to finally pay the full value of the claim. Mital subsequently filed a lawsuit and prosecute the hotel owner’s claims against the insurance carrier for breach of duty of good faith and also for engaging in bad faith by slow-paying the hotel owner for the fire loss. Mital got the insurance company to pay another $325,000 for its delay/slow-paying tactic in addition to the approximately $400,000 secured for the hotel client prior to the lawsuit and after the insurance company’s original offer.
A person was killed when the speeding vehicle in which he was a passenger crashed into a dump truck that pulled out in front of the vehicle on the highway. Both drivers claimed the other one caused the accident. We fought for the wife and child of the person who was killed to be compensated for their loss. With prompt investigation of the crash, interviews of witnesses, and preserving the vehicles involved we obtained vital evidence. We retained top quality experts to help in the prosecution of the wrongful death claims. We successfully settled the case for approximately $1,100,000, which was virtually all of the insurance money available on both of the vehicles in the crash.
